Antique 18th century Persian Qajar Dynasty Ceramic Tile [C9] Antique 18th-19th century Persian Qajar Dynasty ceramic tile of circular form superbly hand painted in underglaze black, yellow, and torques blue, with a scene depicting a lion pursuing a zebra on a cobalt blue background. Diameter: 35, 5 cm (14 in.). Condition: Two repaired vertical cracks, nice patina, and good signs of age. Most old tiles were attached to the walls of old buildings and in the process of removing the tiles from the walls often the tiles would break.
